Before season 9, they were only AU to me, and I was fine with that. They weren't canon in the comics, Ollie ends up with Dinah aka Black Canary. So I really had no hope for the show to go there. Then season 9 started and we got the episode "Roulette" and that fabulous cafe scene. I mean I knew they had some chemistry but then that scene opened my eyes to the fact that they needed to have more and more scenes together. This scene made me hope they were going into the direction that I never thought that they would.
The season continued to put scenes of them together in small spurts, but then came "Absolute Justice", that was just a Chlollier's dream. Oliver explaining the emails between him and Canary, them "breaking" into Pemberton's car, Chloe taking care of Oliver after he was thrown through the window, the scene between Hawkman and Oliver discussing how Oliver doesn't let the people that he cares about no how important they are so he acts like a jackass. And Then finally Oliver showing up at Watchtower to ask Chloe to go to dinner, he didn't know that J'onn was going to be there, but he did know that she would be. After that episode aired, I watched it at least six times before the next episode aired.
The next week "Warrior" aired, and can I just say that the last two minutes of that episode were perfection. The whole scene just sizzled with sexual tension and it was wonderful. You can definetly tell what Oliver was there for, I mean we know he has his own training room, it was completely unnecessary for him to be there doing target practice, and how Chloe didn't pick up on it we'll never know. But hey I'm not complaining.Of course, we didn't get confirmation of the fact that they were together until "Conspiracy", but that scene was the beginning of the relationship I never thought would be realized on the show. That I would only see in the world of fanfiction, and scene manipulations. I watched the warrior scene too many times to count in the week leading up to "Conspiracy".
In "Conspiracy", we learned more about their relationship. The scene where he walks into the Talon apartment was just plain hot, Allison and Justin just have this intense and hot presence whenever they are in a scene together, and I think that has been there since the beginning. This episode showcased their trust issues, and I love that the writer's chose to explore that. Neither of them are used to being with someone that they can talk to about everything. Chloe has trust issues because of Clark and the fact that she thought that he was the one person that she could count on completely then he deserted her at the end of season 8 and acted like a douche toward her for most of season 9. (Sorry to Clark fans out there but it is the truth, she realized that she made mistakes when it came to the whole Doomsday thing but so did everyone else.) And unlike Jimmy, Oliver knows everything about her life, the work she does and that is something that is completely foreign to her. Also Oliver doesn't know what it's like to be in a relationship with someone who possibly knows him better than he knows himself. Someone he can't hide from. When Lois found out his secret she ran because she couldn't handle sharing him with the world. Chloe is someone who can.
Then we had to wait a month for the next episode of Smallville, "Escape" which I was so looking forward to it was unreal. Chloe and Oliver were going away for the weekend, what could go wrong? Oh yeah, Clark and Lois are at the same B&B and Chloe and Lois both get possessed by the Silver Banshee and there were relationship issues. This episode was wonderful, the comedy and the romance was great. It is one of my favorite episodes of Smallville ever. I loved learning more about their relationship or lack thereof, seeing how they were just having fun. Chloe being freaked about the gift that Oliver got her. Oliver actually listening to Clark, kinda blew my mind. Who would take advice from someone who chose Lana over Chloe repeatedly in high school? Their kiss in the bedroom was so cute of course it was closely followed by their misunderstanding. Then their talk out on the porch was great and flirty and wonderful. This episode showed why I love these two together so much. Their chemistry and back and forth is amazing.
The next episode with some Chlollie goodness was "Checkmate", this episode showed how deep their feelings had grown for one another. Just the panic that Chloe was in when she couldn't find Oliver felt so honest, without being overdone. Her explaining to Clark that Oliver always follows protocol, and he wouldn't leave her hanging like Clark does. Then the look of relief on her face when Oliver shows up at Watchtower, and the fact that they completely forget Clark is there like the rest of the world disappears when they are together. I just love that scene as well as their little argument about whether Ollie wears tights or not. Later in the episode when Oliver finds out that Checkmate was after something called Watchtower, the look on Oliver's face completely shows how he feels about Chloe and if anything were to happen to her. Finally the last scene where they are walking down the street and she is joking around with him and he tells her she scared the life out of him. Then the moment that I went all fangirl when she said "Better be careful, Ollie. I'm gonna start to think you're falling for me." I love when she calls him Ollie. This entire episode was great and I know I have been saying that about each episode but each episode that has Chlollie goodness is a win in my book.
"Sacrifice" was the next episode that had a bit of Chlollie in it. Even though there was only really that one scene at the end. The conversation between Tess and Chloe was full of win. Chloe realizing that Oliver wasn't going to leave her and that if anyone was preventing them from being together it was her. I believe this is when she realized how deep her feelings for Oliver were, and his for her.
"Salvation"--I loved this episode so much, one of the better finales Smallville has had in a long time. But I'll only discuss the Chlollie aspects. From the first scene of Chloe and Oliver video chatting, and Chloe wearing a green leather jacket. Oliver telling her he wanted to be in the foxhole with her when it all went down, I swooned. I mean how can you not when Justin Hartley is around. Even when they aren't in the same room they have serious chemistry. In the scene that occurred later when Clark announced that he would be leaving with the rest of the Kandorians and Chloe walked away, Oliver stopping Clark from going after because he understood that she needed time alone. It just showed how great these two are together, how Oliver is able to understand her when others *Cough Clark Cough* don't. In their next scene when Chloe is freaking out about the fact that they are blind out there in the real world because the Kandorians have destroyed the satellites. When he just grabs her and tells they are a team they will figure this out. How can she not love him. Then he drops the bomb that he bought her a satellite, just the change from when he got her a spoon at the inn clearly showed how much their relationship has developed. And the kiss, dear God, the look on her face afterward was probably how I would look if he was kissing me. Their final moments in the episode when they are talking on the walkie-talkies was cute in the beginning them discussing going on a date and then of course all hell broke loose. Then they tell each other that they love each other. I wasn't shocked when he said it to her but when she said it out loud to him i was. I thought she was going to feel that she wasn't ready to say it, but she was. I was so happy yet sad at the same time because of course Oliver was taken.
When I found out there was going to be a tenth season, i was so excited we were going to get more Chlollie loving. But then it was announced that Allison was only coming back for a handful of episodes because she wanted to pursue other things. I was glad that the show was allowing her to do that but I was worried about what was going to happen with my OTP. I didn't think I was going to get the ending I wanted, that happens with every couple I decide to love. I hoped and hoped all summer that she would change her mind about the amount of episodes she was going to be in. Then Comic-Con happened and that epic preview was shown and my couple was there. That kind of held me over for the rest of the summer along with all the other spoilers out there. What can I say I'm a bit of a spoiler-whore!
"Lazarus"--This episode was so good all around, but of course I was really watching to see what was going to happen to my couple. And they never even had a scene together. Oliver being tortured Casino Royale style kinda hot. I love the fact that Oliver was still snarky despite what was happening to him. Chloe using Fate's helmet to see where he was, because I have seen what that helmet can do to a person, I'm going to say I was frightened. Then at the end Chloe trading herself for Oliver, so romantic and tragic. Just the shoulder bump in that scene broke my heart because Oliver didn't realize what had happened. I cried during that scene. The love that these two characters have for one another is truly amazing. How the writers have written it just works.
The next episode when Oliver is trying to find her, just broke my heart. The email that she had sent to him was just so Chloe. I loved that the writer's didn't make it as though she didn't exist anymore, that her presence was still felt in the show. By having Oliver pine for her, like the scene in Watchtower where he told Tess that he didn't like being there because it was where he spent time with Chloe.
The "Warrior" kiss that they showed in "Supergirl" was just amazing. It was everything that I thought it would be. Can I just say that Justin's arms are ridiculous? God, can you imagine being all wrapped up in them, his wife is a lucky woman.
"Collateral"--This episode was awesome. Chloe was so kick-ass, like she always has been. The fact that it drove Ollie a little crazy to even think that Chloe had anything to do with him and Clark being taken was great, it shows how well he knows her. He thought they were messing with his head putting that image in there of Chloe standing over him. Chloe going to see Oliver first in the hospital worked. Their entire back-and-forth conversation with slightly snarky remarks while walking down the hallway was just so them. At this point, I didn't realize how much I had missed them together. During this entire episode I was giddy, I mean I couldn't stop smiling. Well, anyway when Oliver told her that he trusted her with his life, I was just so...you know. Then Chloe being all kickass with her guns, so awesome. I'll admit I did love the Chlark hug, it reminded me of the good-old days. Them jumping off the Daily Planet, and then her being by his side when he woke up, God, these two. Then the frakkin kiss to prove that they were alive again I was swooning, then stupid Rick Flagg interrupting them. I may have yelled at the screen. I love that they went right into action mode, they knew that they had stuff to discuss but it had to wait. This is why they are perfect for each other. They understand each other's priorities. Chloe kicking Dinah's ass rocked it was like a big FU to all the comic fans who constantly bitch and moan about how Chlollie won't be endgame because he is meant to be with Dinah, a character fans of just the show barely know, she's only been in like three episodes. In my mind these are two completely different universes, their is comic book world and then their is Smallville universe. That's what I think when I watch Gossip Girl, I'm a fan of the books and the show, but I don't compare them. Well anyway I loved Green Arrow taking down that guy who was going after her. She was impressed you could tell by the little smirk on her face. Then their final scene in Watchtower was so epic, the entire conversation was just gut-wrenching and heart warming all at the same time. I was crying when I watched it. God where is my Oliver?
"Beacon"--Their first and only real scene in this episode was of them in bed. God they are so great together. The scene was just how I imagined their life together. Her glancing at her computer and him handing it to her stating that it would be a crime to deprive her of technology. These two just make me happy. I just can't stop smiling when they are on screen together.
"Masquerade"-- Quite possibly my all-time favorite episode of Smallville between all the Chlollie and Clois. I was extremely pleased, okay more than pleased. Allison was seriously working that dress. Oliver trying to be sneaky in the bar was funny, I would know who he was with that ridiculous disguise who does he think that he is kidding. These two are so hot together. The scene of them in the trunk was fantastic, them slightly arguing about the fact that she forgot it was their ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY (sorry just a bit excited about that), her calling him dramatic, her not knowing what to call him, them discussing their ability to attract danger, and that at least they are together this time. Scenes like that are why I love them so much. The fight scene was awesome, they are just two very kick-ass characters. Then the "I love you"s were awesome. The first time they said them face to face. Oliver scaling that wall was so hot. Just had to be mentioned. I loved Chloe not running away with mind!Oliver because she knows that he knows she would never do that. Then their fabulous scene in Watchtower and her saying that she is his girlfriend. Of course Ollie has the goddamn omega symbol on his skull, why Clark didn't check him over when he found him beating the crap out of Desaad is beyond me. These two adorable blondes are amazing and why the writers didn't put them together sooner is beyond me. I read several reviews for this episode where critics just raved about Justin and Allison's performance and their chemistry and how off the charts it is.
"Fortune"--This episode was great, and had me crying by the end, something I really didn't expect. This episode also marked Allison's last on the show, but I am hoping that she shows back up in the finale. Oliver in drag so funny. Chloe and Clark's scene in the barn was amazing, I cried and squeeed when she said she was getting a job in Star City. The mention of Wonder Woman and Batman was just frakkin awesome. I love that they are making her a reporter again something that is in her blood and that she is going to continue to help heroes find their way. And finally Chloe and Oliver are MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!! I think Oliver knew when they were watching the video from that night or possibly before then and was looking at her to see if she understood. I cried throughout that scene. My couple is endgame and it's awesome. In the eighth season when those Legion guys said that Chloe Sullivan didn't exist I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would be the reason why. Because she is Chloe Queen. God that's awesome.
I am so happy that Chloe finally got the hero that she deserves. Someone who knows her so well, someone she doesn't have to hide who she is or what she does. I would like to thank Smallville for introducing these characters into my life. These two have been a joy to watch because they are unexpected. I love Clark and Lois, I really do, but I knew that eventually they were going to get together so they didn't really surprise me. But Chloe and Oliver, who would've thought that in their first scene in the barn that they were going to get together. Lois puts it best in "Escape" ... Twist. That is why they are my OTP of this show, they are something that I never thought would happen. I am so happy that the character of Chloe Sullivan got the happy ending she truly deserved and that it is Oliver by her side.
I know, I know I went a little clip crazy. I couldn't help myself these two are just so epic. Well My next entry will contain there season 10 clips, so be sure to check them out. (Season 10 Moments)
