Misfits

Misfits (Spoilers)
I f*cking love this show, I had been putting off watching it until at least the second season was over and then i saw some clips of Alisha and Future!Simon, then decided I couldn't wait any longer. So take one lazy Saturday and I was able to watch the entire series up until the current episode, and let's just say the rest is history. I love the whole setup, the storyline and the fact that they don't mean to get dragged into the freaky shit that surrounds them. Each episode i couldn't wait to see, the anticipation just killed me. I have watched the entire series twice and forced my sister to watch it as well, and got her hooked. I can't believe that I have to wait a whole year for new episodes and fight out what happened to my favorite delinquents.

'Harry Potter' Vs. 'Twilight': Weighing In On The Debate

This article discusses how truly awesome Harry Potter is compared to Twilight

'Harry Potter' Vs. 'Twilight': Weighing In On The Debate

by Terri Schwartz in Commentary

Harry Potter vs. Twilight

If you caught our "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" premiere live stream last week then you've already been introduced to the fact that I am a pretty huge "Harry Potter" fan. I've been reading these books since I was 11 years old and seen each film the weekend it's been released since "Sorcerer's Stone" first hit theaters.

That being said, I've also kept up to date on the "Twilight" franchise, though I didn't get into the books until after "Eclipse" was released. I thought "Breaking Dawn" was a pretty big letdown (so sue me, I thought Edward was going to reclaim his "soul" and return to his human form, allowing him and Bella to live happily ever after without her being changed to a vampire), and I haven't been in love with the movies. So while my "Twilight" knowledge ranks up there with the best of them, I wouldn't say I'm the series' biggest fan.

Now that I have fully disclosed where I stand on the "Potter" versus "Twilight" debate, it should come as no surprise that I was pretty disappointed when I found out that Moviefone decided that "Twilight" did a better job converting the novels to the screen than "Harry Potter" did. Uhh, what? Andrew Sims from Mugglenetdebated Laura Byrne-Cristiano's, the co-leading lady over at Twilight Lexicon. The debate was a little skewed because both Andrew and Laura are fans of their respective opposing franchises (and both had/have fan sites dedicated to them as well!)... but somehow Laura managed to get the best of Andrew and give "Twilight" the lead.

Yes, I understand that particular debate is over and "Twilight" has won, but I just can't let it go! Even Twihards admitted in the Twilight Lexicon comments section that they think "Harry Potter" is the stronger film franchise. So here's my defense of "Harry Potter" from a totally biased perspective and with no intended disrespect to the "Twilight" franchise or the awesome debaters (Andrew and Laura, you guys rock!). Read my thoughts on why I think "Harry Potter" is better, and share your own in the comments section below!

Another Great Article about Bella and Feminism---Anti-Feminism Affects Vampires Too!

Anti-Feminism Affects Vampires Too!

There's no doubt that the Twilight series by author Stephenie Meyer has made a huge impact on the teenage literary population. Its rather original take on the vampire myth has lead many to cite it as a prime example of modern literature, and its themes of true love and devotion are extremely popular amongst many young fans. It is so popular, in fact, that it is being made into a movie of the same title, to be released this fall on an international scale.

To put it bluntly, though, I've never understood the Twilight series. I refuse to call them a saga - Lord of the Rings was a saga. Twilight is not. I've read all four books and slowly have developed a quiet resentment for them, which occasionally comes out as rants - I safely store these on my computer, and most of them have never seen the light of day. To me, the vampire genre died when Buffy and Angel did, and nothing will ever be able to live up to their legacy. However, to summarize: my main reasons for disliking the Twilight series are that it is badly written, embarrassingly cliché, and most of all, anti-feminist - the subject of this article.

Twilight's Bella Swan is a Feminist's Nightmare- screencrave.com

I thought this article was funny and too true, it explains why Bella is a terrible role-model/character.

Twilight's Bella Swan is a Feminist's Nightmare- screencrave.com
Plenty of vampire-werewolf angst will be hitting the big screen later this month when The Twilight Saga: New Moon debuts in theaters across the country. The stories, penned by author Stephenie Meyer, have resonated with teen girls everywhere who affectionately call themselves, Twihards. This article is written from the perspective of someone who wasn’t familiar with the books, but decided to give the film a chance, and was thoroughly turned off by everything it had to offer.

The protagonist Bella Swan, isn’t a positive representation of what any young girl should aspire to be. She has no identity of her own and is under the constant influence of the male figures in her life. That type of nonchalant attitude towards her manipulation isn’t something that should be projected, especially to women in her age group who are starting to date for the first time.

My thoughts on this weeks' episodes-Nov 8-12, 2010

November 8, 2010
Gossip Girl

My favorite couple is hooking up again, and I love it but I don't want this arrangement to last long. I personally think that these two just need a break from each other and i mean a serious break, like no contact for a while. They need to both grow up just a little bit. I would like to see DAIR happen this season.

Which brings me to my next topic, Serena in general, I can't stand her character anymore, I think it happened last season when she went off with Tripp, I thought she was going to redeem herself in my eyes when she finally got with Nate, but that fell apart when she wound up with Dan yet again. The Derena romance for me died in the second season when they got back together after her relationship with Aaron. And now it just seems gross to me they share a sibling, their parents are married, and they don't have the magic that they had in the first season anymore. Serena needs to stop jerking these two guys, Nate and Dan, around. Nate and Dan are my favorite friendship on the show and she is continuing to come between them. Serena just needs to be single for a while, and another thing what was the point of the teacher quitting his job to be with her if she was just going to dump him.

I am getting tired of this Juliet storyline and that sucks because I really love Katie Cassidy I wish they would explain what her brother's problem is with Serena. If I knew I would probably would be on her side maybe. I'm kinda excited about Juliet teaming up with Vanessa and Jenny to take down the Non-Judging Breakfast Club, As much as I love a bunch of them (All but Serena), I think they need to be taken down a notch or two, I get tired of seeing them on top all the time.

This show needs mixing up that is why I am rooting for JVJ alliance and DAIR, I need new dynamics.

Hawaii 5-0
It's as simple as I love Steve and Danno, they are why I tune in each week. I love their dynamic and you can see that their partnership has become more and more substantial.

Glee
I really enjoyed this episode, I thought the guys storyline about cooling off with images of Bieste was funny, but also the message that came at the end about the fact you may not think its personal  but it is to that person. I wasn't crazy about the Will/Bieste kiss, but I can deal.

Now to the storyline that I enjoyed the most in this episode, the Kurt bullying. Kurt is my favorite character on the show, I think Chris Colfer is so talented and is playing Kurt so well. Last season Kurt was handling being the only out gay student at McKinley fairly well, and now the bullying is finally getting to him. HE is miserable and you can see it in the way that he reacts in this episode in the hallways. I am glad that in the upcoming episodes it is finally going to be addressed.
